September 25th, 2019 - Michael Runningwolf and Thomas Wright - Mental Illness Today

Michael Runningwolf was a High School History Teacher until his psychiatric challenges (Schizophrenia) forced him to resign. After experiencing divorce, homelessness, hospitalizations, and incarcerations Michael moved to Arizona where he found NAMI, and became a Certified Peer Support Specialist with the goal of serving others diagnosed with a mental illness. Michael now travels nationally and internationally as a facilitator, teaching Peer Support Certification classes, training others with a diagnosis to become Certified Peer Support Specialists. Michael lives in central Pennsylvania with his family and is the author of two newly published books The Promise, and Akemi and The Heaven’s Gate. Both written to inspire and empower people diagnosed with a mental illness and give hope to their families. Thomas Wright lives his life every day offering support to others in ways he never had. After battling his depression for nearly 30 years, he reached out in 2018 to get help. That help came in the form of the Peer Support Program, in which he now is certified and works. Tom’s goal every day is to change lives one conversation at a time. Reach Out to Peer Support at Peer2PeerHelper@gmail.com
