CoVid Facts

Facts on Covid-19. Facts.

SARS-CoV-2 is the novel coronavirus that causes the disease, COVID-19. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in people and many different species of animals. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people such as with MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and now with this new virus (named SARS-CoV-2). All three of these viruses have their origins in bats. SARS-CoV-2 was identified in China in late 2019 and resulted in a pandemic with infections in 184 countries. There is no vaccine, and it hits the elderly and those with diabetes, respiratory problems, heart problems, and weakened immune systems particularly hard.

Stop the Spread of Rumors

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Stay home when you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Diseases can make anyone sick regardless of their race or ethnicity. Fear and anxiety about COVID-19 can cause people to avoid or reject others even though they are not at risk for spreading the virus. Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions may be at higher risk for more serious complications from COVID-19.

5G mobile networks DO NOT spread COVID-19

Viruses cannot travel on radio waves/mobile networks. COVID-19 is spreading in many countries that do not have 5G mobile networks. COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks. People can also be infected by touching a contaminated surface and then their eyes, mouth or nose. Coronavirus Disease 2019: Myth vs. Fact

TRUE or FALSE? The new corona virus was deliberately created or released by people. The answer is false. Viruses can change over time. Occasionally, a disease outbreak happens when a virus that is common in an animal such as a pig, bat or bird undergoes changes and passes to humans. This is likely how the new corona virus came to be. There is no vaccine for the new corona virus right now. Scientists have already begun working on one, but developing a vaccine that is safe and effective in human beings will take many months.

Coronavirus Symptoms: Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to develop symptoms after you have been exposed to COVID-19? Symptoms could appear as soon as two days after exposure or as long as 14 days later, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A new study led by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health shows that the median time for symptoms to show up is about five days. That is why the CDC uses the 14-day quarantine period for people with likely exposure to the new corona virus.

When and how to set up direct deposit with the IRS for your stimulus check

If you're one of the 8 in 10 taxpayers who already receive their tax refunds through direct deposit, you don't need to do anything. That's the bank account information that the IRS will use. But if you're in that 20% who gets their refunds by mail -- or not at all -- the IRS told us that it will set up an online portal by April 17 to get your 2020 corona virus relief payment transferred electronically to your bank account.
